Boon Companions began with a small group of people, Bill and Joan Wilcox, and Paige Garrett, wanting their
own dairy goat show at the Boone County Fair. After 15 years of talking with the fair board, they had about given up, when
the fairboard called them and asked if they would like to have a show. They quickly roped a few more "goat people" in and
put on their first show which they paid for themselves. The name for the club came about when Paige was filling in the ADGA
application for a sanctioned show. "What is the name of your club?" Boon Companion came to mind. A "blessed gift"; a "kindred
spirit".
